Abstract
LightCastle Partners’ annual flagship publication titled ‘The LightCastle Business Confidence Index 2019-20’ gauges the business sentiments of private sector leaders across several sectors, that have a notable contribution to the country’s economy. The industries to feature in this study were purposefully determined to include sectors that had the highest level of contribution to the country’s GDP.
The industries have been segregated into three broader categories – namely Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary. The primary sector incorporates agriculture and commodities-related industries. The secondary sector encompasses manufacturing and processing industries, while the tertiary sector encompasses services. This year’s study was conducted based on interviews with 59 CXO members of different leading companies, from March 2020 to April 2020. The overall Index calculated had representation from all the industries and garnered insights from both before and after the impact of Covid-19 in Bangladesh. Thus the report represents industry sentiments both with and without the impacts of the global pandemic for FY 2019-20.
